Northeastern High School teacher Ms. Laughlin said, “Mr. Kadel (Leaonard Kadel, Security Bank Volunteer) was a big hit with the students. His passion for the subject matter and the district showed. He was able to give current examples and information for each of the lessons. Mr. Kadel strongly suggested for the students to get started on a budget that would fit their individual needs and prepare them for the future. A few of the students are still working within the budget they prepared with Mr. Kadel.”
Mrs. Kerechanin from St. Patrick School said, “I rave about the JA program and the real life education it teaches our students. Many of my students went home and talked to their parents about what they learned in class.”
Ms. Sanders from London Elementary wrote, ” We enjoyed the experience and our volunteer (Ms. Harris from Phat Daddy’s Pizza)! Thank you.”
“I love this program. It helps me cover several social studies standards in five classes. It also is engaging and fun for the students to learn using the materials as well as being taught by someone different other than their teacher, ” said Ms. Bashore from Catholic Central.
Some of our volunteers go above and beyond. Mrs. Schroyer wrote, “Mr. Gross challenged the students (5th graders at St. Patrick School) by having them create their own business and present them to the class. He gave away prizes to the top ideas. He operated the challenge like “shark Tank” and the students really flourished from this kind of instruction.”
Our teachers love their volunteers. Mrs. Briggs from Horace Mann wrote, “We have had Rita Sneed (ARC staffing) for many years. She does a great job with our first graders and is very flexible with her schedule. The students really listen and learn a lot through her lessons. Keep up the good work!”
